In creating the collections they choose fabrics of natural origin, like bamboo, viscose, cotton or wool and new sustainable fabrics are introduced, you will find eco-cotton, tencel and eco-viscose in every collection.
Zilch is a family business. Owner Gabriel Thissen started the brand thirty years ago when he took over a small vintage shop in the city centre of Amsterdam. In 1989 he started his own production of oversized blouses in pure silk and over the years the company grew. With a small team of cousins they create collections in a familiar atmosphere. The meaning of Zilch might be noppes or nada, they have grown into a solid and divers brand sold in brand stores and independent boutiques across Europe.
A colourful spin on classic styles.
All factories Zilch work with produce according to the International Labour Standards. Every season they visit their factories in Asia and Greece and have close contact with them during the production process. They also work with factories that use environmentaly friendly dyeing techniques without chemicals.
Colour is key. We create collections with timeless, feminine styles in bold prints and colours. We value the use of natural fibres that feel comfortable and soft, our range of bamboo basics feel like a second skin. Combining solids and prints is a joy in every collection.
Movement On The Ground
Besides making sure the factory workers live and work in healthy circumstances, Zilch is also part of a group called ‘Movement On The Ground’. They are independent business people responding to humanitarian crisis affecting the innocent men, women, and children forced from their homes by climate change, poverty and war.
